Musicbrainz doesn't always have a disc-id attached to a release. (And it may not have -all- disc id's attached... it is scary sometimes how many distinct disc id's a given release can have.) http://musicbrainz.org/doc/CddbGateway for info on the cddb-protocol gateway. (This is one of those confusing things, which gets into the history of FreeDB... The original Compact Disc Database was at Sunsite.unc.edu, but was sold to Gracenote. Freedb is a fork of the original data files and lots of updates. The protocol is still called CDDB. I am not sure what Gracenote calls their service.) There is also FreeDB2.org, which is a fork of the FreeDB database from a few months ago, when a fight occured at FreeDB... I only use FreeDB for inital tags/naming, but polish all the tags with MusicBrainz. (And, yes, I add DiscID's as I go.) -- snarlydwarf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34224 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
