I've had a flurry of activity and am in the process of preparing a new
version of flac2mp3 for release.

The latest version from my svn trunk is the prospective release candidate.

If you've already got a version of flac2mp3 on your system, you only
need grab the updated flac2mp3.pl file from here:

http://robinbowes.com/projects/flac2mp3/browser/trunk/flac2mp3.pl?format=txt

The key change in this release is that I'm now using the MD5 checksum
from the flac file to determine whether or not the file should be
transcoded. This value is stored in the mp3 file in a custom comment tag
labelled "MD5". If this value does not match the MD5 checksum of the
flac file or does not exist then the file will be transcoded.

For existing users this means that you must run flac2mp3 on your
existing library with the --tagsonly switch to update the MD5 tags in
the mp3 files. If you do not do this, flac2mp3 will re-transcode all
your files; not the end of the world, but relatively time-consuming.

Please post feedback to the flac2mp3 users mailing list - details on the
flac2mp3 home page: http://robinbowes.com/projects/flac2mp3/#MailingLists

Thanks,

R.
