I would have assumed SlimServer would treat the files as one album, as long at the meta data is -exactly- the same. If one had a capital and the other doesn't, then you get two albums etc. Make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces either. this can cause problems.
You could try with the trial version of Tag&Rename.
