I am haivng a similar problem... Only in my case: If I use the windows interface, slimserver crashes and I get 0 albums from 0 artists report.
If I use the command line interface to run scanner.exe, I get the the same as the original poster's report: Your library contains 1654 albums, 0 artists . The debug function tells me something about being unable to read the author field... I too mave most of my files in Flac format and have the latest stable release (Windows XP Slimserver 6.5.4 ) and used MediaMonkey to edit tags. I suspect the problem is with the MediaMonkey because when I try to scan the unedited orginal flacs, the slimserver scans them fine.
