This is what stream.mp3 is for.  It will transcode your FLAC files
on the fly to mp3 and play them over the net.  No need for a second
copy.  I use it all the time at work - my dsl connection doesn't
have the upload bw to play native flacs reliably.

Point your browser to http://<your-slimserver-name>/stream.mp3.  It
will appear as a software player, create a playlist for it and
stream it using Winamp or whatever you like.
