Hello, sorry that took so long.

>From experience, a good way to organise your music library so that SS
gets Various Artists correct is thus...

single artist CDs..
f:\music\eric clapton\timepieces\01-layla.mp3
f:\music\eric clapton\timepieces\02-bad love.mp3

and for compilations...
f:\music\compilations\best of funk\01-cold sweat.mp3
f:\music\compilations\best of funk\02-along 110th street.mp3

...this is because, despite tags, SS only knows an album is a
compilation if it's files are all in the same directory. For these
albums, SS doesn't care about the Album Artist tag (sometimes called
Band), and in fact it can sometimes confuse things.

Single artist albums with guests is a little trickier. If you set the
Album Artist (aka Band) tag to be "Nas" for all tracks, and then for
track 1 set Artist to "Nas Feat. Kelis", for track 2 set Artist to "Nas
Feat. Redman" etc then (I think) SS will file this in your artist list
as "Nas" PROVIDED you set "Compilations" to "Group compilations
together" and "List albums by band" - these live on the "Music Library"
tab of "Settings" in version 7's web interface; can't remember
what/where that is in 6.5.x I'm afraid. It's not hard to find though.
Not something I use myself, mainly because I use iTunes and that falls
over hilariously with sorting Album Artist tags.

After the above tweaks, click "Clear library and rescan" from the web
interface. Give that a try and post back. If you've got a massive
library that takes ages to scan, try setting up 10 or so albums first
so your rescan time isn't too big; that way you can change settings and
see what happens a little quicker!
