Thank you for all the responses. I've investigated Mp3tag but I actually found it quite slow when reading files from my home server to display on my laptop via a wireless network. However there are other issues that I haven't fully explored so I'm sure I'll find other ways of working with it. I've also gone back to Tag&Rename and found additional information there which I just hadn't looked for before - since there seemed to be no conflict between it and CATraxx I'd never needed to look.
A lot of my collection is classical and I've given up completely on so-called 'standard' genres from sources like CDDB etc. Cramming 600 years of Western music in to one genre 'Classical' is not realistic. So I've created and used a lot of custom genres and sub-genres which make sense to me. Now that I have to include SS and SB3 along with CATraxx and a tag editor I will have to do some planning to come up with a satisfactory naming convention that all of these applications can agree on! There are a few other areas which need work, as well as the genres. CATraxx quite happily supports the idea of a multi-disc album, with the album having a name and each disc also having a name. I'm not convinced I've got the best method of file naming and tagging in order to accommodate this for SB3. Anyway thanks once again for the pointers - most helpful. regards Ken -- KenM ------------------------------------------------------------------------ KenM's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15189 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42751 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
