As you can see the free version has very few features, not even secure
ripping. The DSP effects required for HDCD ripping are not in the free
version.

I use the reference version, which is about $28, which I was happy to
pay, as I prefer it to EAC, YMMV.

There is a 30 trial version of the reference version, which is fully
functional. Why not give it a whirl.
