Dear Kaktus, I like your name - I wish I had thought of something creative like that.
Anyway, To answer your original question, I have been downloading and listening to Linn Records material for a while now. I download the Studio Master FLAC files. To transport them through my SB3, I resample to 48 KHz / 24 bit first. I have also experimented with resampling on the fly using SOX. I use a Channel Islands Audio DAC on the SB3's optical digital output for conversion to analog. Their material tends to be well recorded and worth listening to - maybe that's all it is, and the greater sampling rate and bit depth don't matter. Whatever - even after purchasing it a year ago, or thereabouts, I am still blown away by their recording of Handel's Messiah. It sounds amazing coming out of my setup, and then there is the Thomas Tallis Magnificat recording. I lose all sense of time listening to this material. Two hours can go by, and I don't know where the time went. After trying different methods, I found using the "DownThemAll" plugin in firefox to be the easiest way to deal with the .aspx links and to download an album after purchase. Then I use dBpoweramp to do any resampling that might be required. -Ron -- Ron F. *Squeezebox setup:* wireless SB3 -> CI Audio VDA.2 DAC + VAC.1 PSU *Main rig:* NAD 7600 + NAD 2600A -> Phase Tech PC-6.5 speakers *Headphone rig:* Headroom Max -> Sennheiser 650s *Music Server:* Nano-ITX computer running SlimCD + 750 GByte HDD -> Netgear wireless router *Other stuff:* NAD C542 CDP, NAD 6300 Tape, Monster 5100 Power conditioner, Outlaw Audio cables ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ron F.'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5616 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48494 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
