As ulen says, have a look at the "hidden" tags in a full featured tagger like mp3tag (right click on the offending file, show extended properties). You may have an artistsort or albumartist tag hidden in there, or an id3v1 which is different from the id3v2 (assuming these are .mp3 files).
The other possibility is that you have an out of date cue sheet which references the old artist name. Finally, are you using iTunes or MusicIP integration - that could be another source of the "old" name.
