As far as I know, the issue only affects the analyze in XP/serve in linux case. (And again, if you just write the tags in "ID3v2.4 UTF-8" there is no problem at all.)
I believe (been a while now) that I found the tracks worked (were mixable) if I analyzed them & then served them from all from my XP box, even if I had rewritten the tags... so UTF-16 must have worked if you stayed on the XP platform. It is surely very difficult to keep SW consistent across three (Mac, Windows, Linux- more if Vista differs from XP) platforms, so it is not such a big surprise there might be a glitch- in fact, it's impressive that there are not more. The MIP people amazingly responsive, given that the number of people using linux for this is small, and people like me analyzing in XP and then serving in linux must be yet smaller. The word from them is that:> > This confirms what we expected... We've updated the code so we can read > the tags in UTF-16 in case some other tool converts them (this also > added some cases for replay gain tags, so it's a double win). The fix > will be available starting with version 1.9 beta 6. -- lork ------------------------------------------------------------------------ lork's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17438 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49065 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
