Trouble is there are so many settings that can be set on SC that cause
different behaviour and then so many different types of users that each
can expect a different behaviour so in most cases there isn't a clear
right or wrong.

EAC is a great ripping tool considered by some to be the best for
getting accurate rips. Tagging is a differn issue altogether, as if
you do not use any manual intervention the accuracy of tags is down to
whatever source you use which brings us back to the comment above i.e.
has that source made the same assumptions as you.

So I always check the tags after ripping using a good tool eg MP3Tag
which is free to download (although you may wish to make a contribution
to the author as this is a serious application).

Back to your problem, where are you seeing this? In SC or on SB?

If the album is by various artists, ensure that you have the
COMPILATION=1, which EAC does if you indicate. Generally it is good
practice as far as SC is concerned to ensure each album is in a unique
folder with all tracks in that folder. If it is a mult-disk album I
ceate sub-folders withing album for each disk cd1 & cd2 say. Then
ensure that you have DISC=1 or 2 depending on the disc, & for all
tracks DISCC=2 (asuming a 2 disc album).
You need to set up in SC how you want to treat multiple disc albums
i.e. as a single album (or otherwise).

You album should then appear under Various Artists as a single album.
