I've been struggling to configure my ubuntu-based squeezecenter (ver.
7.1) so as to play files in the .wma format on an older squeezebox,
running firmware 40. I understand that this requires on-the-fly
transcoding of those files to an mp3 format, and have installed mplayer
and lame to the server, using apt-get. I also added the AlienBBC
plug-in.

While doing this has enabled the squeezebox to play AlienBBC streams,
and other wma-streamed radio stations, it hasn't enabled me to play any
server-based .wma files on that player.

I've tinkered with settings in
/etc/squeezecenter/slimservice-convert.conf from different possible
solutions i've hunted up on the web, but nothing has worked so far. The
player attempts to start the file, but fails to progress, and keeps
restarting the file after a few seconds.

I'd appreciate any insight on how to solve this problem. Thanks!
