If you use different file naming conventions, then you don't have to fiddle with editing the pattern string. For most albums I use $num(%track%,2) %title% but for compilation albums, I use $num(%track%,2) %artist% - %title% > I guess it would be ok if you had a bunch of actions that you run all > the time but other than that just set the default the way you want it.
