I've been a longtime SC user but have always (stupidly or otherwise) ripped my stuff into large album-sized single FLAC files with a corresponding cue sheet (i.e AbbeyRoad.flac and AbbeyRoad.cue). I then name album art AbbeyRoad.jpeg, tell SC to look for %FILE when looking for album art and all is well. Has worked for years.
Well, I've collected various FLAC files over the past; files I haven't originally ripped. they are in folders and are ripped to individual songs. I notice that when I put them under my main directory (c:lossless music) they work fine (no album art though, but no big deal) but when I keep them in a cleaner looking subfolder (example, a purchased hirez album... Nine Inch Nails - The Slip, that is a folder with individual FLAC song files, of course) they show up in SC as artist named Lossless Music, not Nine Inch Nails. All subfolders show up this way. I guess my question is: can I run my SC library in this "mixed mode" (realizing album art is an issue but I don't really care right now) with most of my FLAC files being at a first level within the structure, yet having folders too? If not, it's no real big deal, just a library with several individual flac song files (lots of 1's, lot's of 2's, etc.) listed with little metadata. SC and the GUI handle them fine but they look a mess in the file directory. And no, I'm not prepared to go back to my original 1100 albums/cue files and reconvert them to individual songs. It's not worth it to me.
