He doesn't have a problem with the flac files (they don't show up in
itunes anyway) but with the mp3s in itunes.
BTW, there is a good reason to put all artists in one ARTIST frame with
delimiters instead of multiple ARTIST entries: ARTISTSORT can be
specified for all artists with the same delimiter. If you have multiple
ARTIST and ARTISTSORT frames there is no guarantee as to which sort
frame is used for any artist.

@lemmy999: ID3 only allows one frame of its kind in one tag. The
specification lists the TPE1 frame as [#TPE1 Lead
performer(s)/Soloist(s)]. Note the plural endings in parenthesis.
I think you're out of luck here. Unless itunes lets you specify a
delimiter like SC does there is probably no way to properly solve
this.

What I do in such cases when I transcode from flac to mp3 for my
portable mp3 player is that I remove the guest artist from the TPE1
frame and add id to the end of the song name (TIT2), 'feat. XY' or
'with XY'.
This way all tracks from one album at least stay together and you don't
get a myriad of artists that are actually multiple artists.
