COMPILATION set to 1 means the album is a compilation of artists. Set to 0 means it isn't; I guess used when different tracks have different artists but you specifically don't want it shown as a compilation. I read that it can be set to blank or omitted if not needed. Correct, unless you set COMPILATION to 1 in which case the artist(s) can be different on each track. Your comment is valid regarding the wiki.
