It's not PCM, but for our purposes it's stored in a WAV file that looks like PCM, which is why it's possible to create CDs containing DTS-encoded tracks. Using FLAC level 8 on a normal 16/44.1 DTS "WAV" usually results in a file about 11% smaller, which suggests that even with the heavy compression involved in DTS, there's still *some* redundant data. DTS9624, on the other hand, apparently makes full use of every single available bit, or very close to it. > You should not put DTS inside another compression format. I do it all the time, it allows me to properly tag DTS files and play them on the Squeezebox. I've heard people complain that some software and other hardware players can't handle DTS FLACs, but they work fine for me in Foobar2000 and, more importantly, on the Squeezebox. -- atrocity ------------------------------------------------------------------------ atrocity's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16009 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40446 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list ripping@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
