I'm not real familiar with how you set it up in WHS, but the normal way that you'd do this is to run the tag editor of your choice on another machine and access the files across the network through a 'share' that you set up in WHS. There might be some small advantage to running the tag editor on WHS itself whenever you're doing massive tagging operations, such as running a script that modifies tags in the entire library.
