I do use dbPowerAmp, but I only got it for the converter.

I don't like dbPowerAmp as a ripper much; EAC does everything I need, and a lot 
quicker because it does ripping and encoding in separate threads.

With EAC I can find gap information and control what happens with the gaps, 
test CRCs of the rips if the CD is not present in accuraterip, create CUE 
sheets.

With dbPowerAmp, I also have to remove a bunch of stuff that I don't want.  The 
interface is naff - resize the window and controls go missing off the 
right-hand side (such as comments).  My license for various metadata sources 
expired.

So I do see the difference - better performance and more functionality for free.

dbPowerAmp is really good for converting to other formats though - I use it for 
FLAC->mp3 for iPod, or converting SHN -> FLAC for old live archive recordings.
