Just adding a tag. I'm kind of a purist, and don't want to mess with
the audio once I've ripped it.

There are, but they are gui based. I've tried a few, but they really
don't work well with 30,000+ files. Plus I am a command line person by
nature.

I really do not want to start tagging my files over a samba link. It
will take many many hours, if it will work at all.

I wrote a perl script to convert the APE RG tags to ID3. This works
pretty well, but I decided not to use it. One of the reasons is that
when I rip new CDs using abcde, they will end up with the APE tag. So
I'd have to keep converting them to ID3.

What should happen is that mp3gain is extended so it supports ID3. I
looked at it, but it's a little over my head for now.
