Weird I found at least some wav files that I had not tagged, they where
leftovers from a wav to flac conversion . I did not use bmf to find
them.
Who knows ? but the scan picked them up. And put then i "No Artist" and
"No Album" But they where completely untagged.
Your bug seems to be about partially tagged files ?

Can not double check now as in response to this tread I checked my "No
Album" and "No artist" and folders and fixed some things I saw so I have
no sample material left (I think) of untagged files.

My partially tagged files who missed artist showed up in "No Artist"
and files lacking album was in "No Album" this was found by scan.
Bmf should be no different than the scan it just scans that folder
level when you see files, a very limited scan but it is really different
from a scan ?

One thing is as usual a clear and rescan everything is needed after
correcting the artist tags of the files a "scanned for changed" does put
them in the their right places but leaves their old entries intact.
So scan for changed add things to the dB but does not remove
leftovers.

So as it was a while since my last complete scan I've could have piled
up weirdnesses that got cleared now ?

Also I've found things where "gues tag" has worked partially, you can
have "albums" that really are folder names .
For example i downloaded some live shows that i did not care to tag
that well I got an "Live Archive" album because that's the folder i kept
that show in and i missed to check some tags in some files .

I have no good case to support a bug or anything all I can say is that
untagged or badly tagged get added somewhere when I bmf to them or scan
them the method used does not seems to matter.

This could be a good thing, if bmf creates entries that really can't be
seen in any view that one cares about as artist, album, genres, if you
browse to an untagged file, this will be a workable compromise.

You can use those files but they wont clutter any view, don't forget to
exclude the "No Genre" genre if you make random list if you have piles
of rubbish files you don't want to pop up in a mix or as alarm?

What would happen if one clicked "all songs" on top of the bmf menu :)
:) It would take hours to open or melt the server, but would probably
include everything in the music path.

After this rescan "No Albums " seems to be the best spot to find
untagged files.
None of them are not really untagged they have the "vendor" tag from
flac exe that made them, but thats all they got nothing else at all no
gain tags or anything. I possible out of wav files for the moment.

My collection is not broken enough for this kind of experiments
