I started ripping CDs when I bought my iRiver H140 a few years ago and continued when I bought my SB3. These have remained the main clients of my digitised collections until recently. As they both have relatively basic text-based displays, I have not bothered about album art so I now have a collection of about 1000 CDs ripped to FLAC (and batch converted mp3 versions of these) largely without art.
Now that I have bought a Touch I can see the point of having the album art and am faced with the task of trying to add it somehow. It seems like I need some kind of batch album art finder - if it could get a reasonable match for 70-80% of my collection I would be happy. I tried a plugin for MediaMonkey but didn't have a lot of success with it. It seemed to be very slow and my router wasn't too happy about the number of http requests it seemed to make, blocking http access because of a suspected rogue program. If this is my only option I'll try it again but I wondered whether there are any other options out there? I just upgraded my dbPoweramp subscription to get paid-for metadata in the hope that there would be a facility to add art via the batch conversion facility, but it appears not. AT least it will give me the art for new rips.
