i was going to post this at mp3tag forums, just so they'd know, but they are closed currently and otherwise i'll forget, besides i know some here will find it interesting.
i am trying to track down a file or twos worth of discrepencies between mp3tag and winamp, and i noticed that while the track/file count is only off by one or two, the "days" of music was way off, and mp3tag reported way too much size used. turns out the reason was an old nemesis: char/path length. windows, (XP anyway), has something like a 255 limit on the total length of filename and folder name, and on a couple of tracks on an album i had exceeded the limit. not sure if this will fix all the discrepencies yet but what i found interesting was only one of the two tracks that windows explorer had an issue with was borking mp3tag (i think). winamp didn't show the tracks in the ML at all, but mp3tag did. i assume it showed both but the one i found was reported as 769596.48 TB! in size. anyway, i shortened the filepath and that should fix the issue. i'm surprised mp3tag doesn't handle the situation more gracefully. -- MrSinatra www.lion-radio.org using: sb2 & sbc (my home) / sbrec (parent's home) - sbs 7.5.2b - win xp pro sp3 ie8 - p4(ht) 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - 1tb wd usb2 raid1 - d-link dir-655 - 43k+ mp3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80642 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
