Wow, 
I've had some dts tracks that I've ripped with dBpoweramp and use
replay gain with none of the problems you are describing.  I wonder if
it's a problem of the decoder or the ripper you used.  I worried about
the jumping to save the stereo but after a few I gave up on that.  I
hope you solved it because that could be very bad on the old speakers.
