I don't know if this post adds to the value of this discussion, but this post from mp3tag forum is my experiment with ripping with dbpoweramp and how the settings there interact with mp3tag, what squeezeboxserver shows, and what foobar shows. And the mp3 version also shows ARTIST and ALBUM ARTIST correctly in itunes. So for me, this covers all the bases correctly.
