All of the metadata placeholders have changed, so no, there's no way that an older profile will work with 1.0 beta 2.
I've ripped a couple of CDs with it and although the user interface is cleaned up a little, there's really not much advantage to it. He's added the ability to reference a few new metadata fields such as ALBUMARTIST, COMPOSER and DISCNUMBER, but if they're not filled in and they're passed to your encoder in 'additional command line options', you end up with blank fields. All-in-all, the additions are fairly useless to me, as the files will require editing in a tag editor after ripping the CD anyway.
