Is this with SBS 7.5 and MP3 ID3v2.3 files? If so, I would try to set the TORY tag to the release year of each album. I think this will make you find only the relevant disc when browsing by year. Or why not go all the way and set the TORY tag to the true release year for every song in that compilation album?
