i always recommend mp3tag, mp3val, and vbrfix by moonbase, for someone interested in improving/fixing their files, headers, tags, etc...
however, i haven't yet found a utility that can identify and sort via actual codec used, like eg. LAME ver 3.96, FHG, Xing, etc... what i am interested most in doing currently, is in figuring out which files might be mp3pro, or mp3HD, or similar codecs (unknown to me) that if you don't have their decoder, you basically get only half the sound. i want to then decode them natively to wav, and re-encode as LAME. i found this: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_video/audio_tools/encspot.cfm http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1103 but its no longer supported and won't scan subfolders, which makes it basically useless for me, as i'm not going to go manually folder by folder. while i see it can find mp3pro, i don't know how updated it is, and if it can find other similar codec types. any ideas? -- MrSinatra www.lion-radio.org using: sb2 & droid (my home) / duet & ipeng (parents' home) - sbs 7.5.5b - win7 & xp pro sp3 ie9 - p4(ht) 3.2ghz, 2gig ram - 1tb wd usb2 raid1 - d-link dir-655 - 49k+ mp3/flac ::VOTE FOR 'BUG 15604' (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=15604)!!!:: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89260 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
