I think that in order to have Sammy Hagar in your browsing list, he'll have to show up on the now playing screens. This is a "feature" of the squeezeboxes since about version 7.5
As to browsing, there is a setting related to compilations that will allow you to see all artists. That would allow Sammy Hagar to show up even if this is the only album he appears on. However, you'd see any other artist in your library that also only appears on one album (e.g. soundtrack or compilation song artists).
