I had done that a while back, but I actually left the old playlists folder inside my music folder. I deleted that, and then did another sweep for rogue .m3u's but still no luck. I traced all the songs which were duplicates to a mooseundox.m3u which the *excellent* Moose generates unless you disable that option. I don't know why that m3u was causing this behavior, but removing this m3u (which was outside of the music folder) removed the duplicates. Weird, but I'm glad its over.
