I used to use this perl script on my old freenas server (an old HP T5710 thin client) and it worked very slowly simply because the machine was low powered. I transferred the flac files to my MacBook pro, set the script to use 2 cores and it ran beautifully. Some album art did not transfer (I must check the source files) but it saved me a load of effort over converting manually. Thanks everyone for your efforts.
