Ok most intel cards should work. Did the sound cards produce sounds when using the live demo prior to installation of RRAbuntu? I presume you are using v 1.13 of RRabuntu... not the later beta v 2.0.
Can you type two lines in a terminal and send them back to the mailing list. Even though sound cards show up in Alsa mixer... not all of them work with Rivendell. cat /proc/asound/modules You'll get a line like... 0 snd_intel8x0 lspci This produces lots of output.
