Sky Angel currently seeks an IPTV Network Technician or IPTV Network
Administrator for our Chattanooga, TN area operations.
Essential Job Functions:
Responsibility for the IT infrastructure required to deliver MPEG2/H.264
video and audio from satellite IRDs/receivers to IPTV encoding computers
and MPLS-linked national server/headend farms for delivery to customers
nation-wide over the Internet. Duties include configuration,
deployment, troubleshooting and monitoring of networked video/audio
broadcast equipment, LAN and WAN network gear with copper and optical
interfaces, video encoders/transcoders, firewalls, and point-to-point
and MPLS circuits.
This could be a mid-level position, but candidates with the right
personality and mixture of skills will be considered for a corresponding
entry-level position with advancement opportunities.
The successful candidate will either bring satisfactory work experience
with a record of successfully using and/or implementing the required
skills, or demonstrate a history of quick self-directed learning of a
wide variety of new technical skills required to thrive in a new
technical environment. As a very basic minimum, however, exposure to
both IT and video broadcasting is expected.
Specific long-term duties that will be assigned to the successful
candidate may be tailored to his or her strengths.

Experience with the following network standards and equipment:

* ACLs

* Network Monitoring software (off-the-shelf or custom - e.g. Visionic,
Solarwinds, etc.)
Experience with the following digital video standards/equipment:

* MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MPEG-4 AVC (H.264), etc.
* Video encoders (hardware and/or software - Harmonic, Cisco/SA, custom)
* Video transcoders (hardware and/or software - Harmonic, Rhozet Carbon
Coder, etc.)
* Video on Demand (VOD) delivery systems (TVN, CMC, PitchBlue, etc.)
* Television set-top boxes
* Adaptive bitrate streaming video
Robust Experience Required with the following Operating Systems:

* Windows Server (e.g. 2003 - Web Edition, 2003 - UDS Edition, etc.)
* Windows XP
* Linux-based network appliances (e.g. NAS, firewalls, etc.)
* Various Linux OSes: CentOS, RedHat, etc.
Additional required qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from four-year institution with a
degree or concentration in Information Technology, Computer Engineering,
or equivalent experience of four years hands-on technical and/or network
experience in a broadcast or head-end facility, and/or an equivalent
combination of education and experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent
ability to work easily with other technical and non-technical personnel
alike
* Willingness to accept new and exciting technical challenges
* Excellent critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and
troubleshooting skills
* Attention to detail in concise and accurate communications
* Ability to work well under tight deadlines and off-air problems
Preferred Qualifications:

* Ability to independently set up test systems for video encoding,
dedicated server/CDN content delivery to smart TVs, set-top boxes or
other similar devices that display video content from the Internet
* Ability to work with network test and monitoring equipment, as well as
telcos, to diagnose and repair network issues impairing real-time
delivery of video to customers
