 Technically, that *is* balanced, but not the way we normally think.
 I have an article coming out in theBDR.net with some detailed
 explanation of how, and why.

 The simplest way to check for a differential input ( which is really
 what you want ) is to put a signal on either input line across
 to "ground," then the other.
 If it's really a differential input, the only difference should be the
 phase of the output signal.
 ( technically, all inputs are differential, but against what ? )

 The single ended input is cheaper to build, and that's why
 you find them in non-pro equipment.
