#/usr/bin/mysql_fix_privilege_tables --password=[your mysql-root password]
This is just from a quick search of mysql forums on this error. There
were also reports of a bug in MySQL Administrator for certain versions
that could cause this. If that is the culprit, then updating the rduser
password from the CLI admin interface should fix it for you too....

log in fine using ServerHostName, Localhost, port=3306, user=root, and
PW=<mysqlrootpassword> but if I click "User Administration", I get

Username: root
P/w: your mysql root password
Once the Mysql admin opens. Down the left side it says "User
administration", click there.
Now down the bottom left a list of Mysql users shows up.
Click on the "rduser" , and change your rdadmin password... then
click on the
"Apply Changes" button.... and close the window.
