Dan - Many thanks for the prompt answer. I'm thinking I'll just install RRAbuntu on each PC, get it working with the server, then remove the bits I don't want. That seems the easiest way.
I'm not incredibly switched on about the nitty-gritty of sharing /var/snd, etc,. but this is one of the reasons I want to do it - to learn!
