Hi again,

The more I dig into these errors the weirder it seems to get.  DIM4400  
turned out to be Dell Dimension 4400 (which is the machine).  Just in case  
theres something peculiar to Dells I managed to dig out an old IBM eServer  
(Dual P3s feel the power).

Anyway same errors except this time I get: "Hardware name: IBM eserver  
xSeries 220"

So this error seems to be somewhat of a red herring.

The only hardware that moved across to the IBM machine was the M-Audio  
Delta 1010 and the MC DIO24.  I'll have a mess over the weekend and see  
where I end up.
