All the deltas I've tried have worked fine in Ubu (and Suse, Debian, CentOS). I've used:
Delta 44s, 1010LTs and the full 1010 rack. Installing riv from source is not really complicated unless you want to start doing things with JACK which requires some tweaking. I have an old Ubuntu guide in pdf form that is a mix of instructions and a learning aid http://www.thevoiceasia.com/rivendell/Rivendell_2_on_Ubuntu_1104.pdf Theres also a newer guide on the Wiki which deals with Debian 6 that is more up to date and incorporates the extra stuff I learnt over the past few months.
