Awesome - glad it was a nice simple fix!

Just run a MYSQL repair on the database and everything is now back to normal....

For future reference, anyone else who may experience the same or similar issue. As James suggested, check the mysql logs. If you see something like in the above error log, all you need to do is run a few simple commands which will repair either the database tables.

Run this command: myisamchk --silent --force --fast --update-state /var/lib/mysql/rivendell/*.MYI

It will do a repair on the crashed tables.

Check /var/log/mysql - if MySQL is crashing it'll be saying
-something- in the logs which will help massively to debug this.

Hi All, I have a rather strange issue with mysql whereby it keeps
    crashing.

I have a network environment running and whenever other systems
connect to the database the mysql server crashes. playout still
works fine, but the database just crashes and none of the other
    systems con connect.

can anyone offer advice? or has run in to the same problem?

    I am running RRAbuntu
