Just for archival/documentation's sake, I did not get 2.1.3 installed on my
PPC Lucid box, however I was able to get 2.0.2 running successfully. This
will be fine for me for the time being; once I have some more time to tinker
around, I may try getting newer versions up and running.

Thanks to all those who helped!

Follow these 7 simple setup steps :
http://www.tryphon.eu/en/blog/2012/01/05/rivendell-2.1.2-debian-ubuntu/

And enjoy ;)

On a fresh Debian or Ubuntu, the Rivendell packages can be configured in
5 minutes. It doesn't create a production system but a nice test system.
We're experimenting that on each Rivendell training sessions (with trainee
laptops).

Rivendell packages come with needed dependencies. You just need to install
mysql-server [0] (and "optional" mpeg libraries). Rivendell group, /var/snd,
/etc/rd.conf (and many other things) are created by package install scripts.
These install scripts configure a simple and usable Rivendell setup, using
simple choices (adding our user in rivendell group, configuring alsa, basic
rd.conf, etc ...).

Packages can have troubles with partially/broken/old/migrated installs
because we try to keep install scripts as simple as possible. Scripts can't
be managed all situations because Rivendell uses many various resources
(mysql, file storage, sound, daemons, GUI, ...). But existing Rivendell
setups (should ? :)) have experimented users to make the better choice
(better than any automated scripts).

For geeks, Rivendell (2) debian packages sources are available here :
http://projects.tryphon.eu/rivendell2-debian

Regards,

0. because the package doesn't known if you want to use the same host to run
database server
