As do I. For all the glitz and chrome, I find Ubuntu to be just too volatile.
OTOH, the RedHat-derived distros have very solid tools for managing deployments
ranging from one to thousands of systems, along with the peace of mind of
long-term package availability. That said, the number of pre-packaged apps do
tend to lag behind some other distros. However, if you're deploying a vertical
application (which is emphatically what Rivendell is), this is actually a
benefit. *Much* less cruft to get in the way of the system doing the task that
it is there to do! This is why RedHat ships it lean-n-mean. And, if you do
need some of the other stuff, there's always CentOS PLUS.

Try this repository:
http://download.paravelsystems.com/CentOS/6test/
IMPORTANT NOTE: As implied by the name ('6test'), this is indeed a TEST
software stack, meaning that things can and frequently do change without
warning there, nor are there any guarantees that things like ABIs will remain
stable. However, you should find pretty much everything you need to get JACK
and Rivendell running on CentOS 6 there with a minimum of fuss.
Cheers!
