There isn't a set script for deletion
other than manually writing an SQL query and doing the clean up
with the files.
Just curious have you tried setting cart/cut expiry dates and
changing the purge settings to remove them? (To be honest I'm not
sure whether the gui settings just delete the cuts and leave the
empty carts in tact)
