Of course it would be easier !! It would be easier to just assume it will always be run across a Microsoft VPN, too, and let Microsoft worry about how or whether it works. Some successful companies do that every day. The point was simply that UDP across a secure link is possible by a few means, ssh being but one of them, not the only one. If one doesn't want the overhead of encryption, one could simply use an unencrypted unsecured link.
