I thought you could use the RML "UO" command.  Doesn't
it send text strings to arbitrary targets?

The Pathfinder server port for commands from clients is
typically 5200.  I've set other automation systems up to
send route change and other commands to the server
as text strings.  I have not done this with Rivendell but
always assumed it would work.

Are you asking about a query/ response dialog?

Some commands Pathfinder accepts via this method:

         ACTIVATEROUTE 1 203 89
               or
         VMIXOFF 10.111.46.25 7 3

I won't get crunchy about the specifics of these commands'
syntax.  They happen to be some I actually have in use
on other systems.
