Hi Bruce This is what I do... I have 3 x soundcards so I added the Hardware device... but I guess you won't need it. Just leave out -ao alsa:device=hw=2,0 from the command. (mplayer always try to play to the first soundcard)
(sleep 4) This will retry a connection 4 seconds after a disconnection. When you want to end it... Killall mplayer and killall whatever-you-call-the-script.sh #!/bin/bash while [ true ] do mplayer -ao alsa:device=hw=2,0 http://servername.net:8000 sleep 4 done # end script. You could either use a separate computer for the stream or have 3 soundcards like me. Soundcard 0 main rivendell out Soundcard 1 hotkeys, audition, cue rivendell soundcard 2 mplayer (rivendell doesn't know about this card) a patchlead goes from speaker out to line in on soundcard 0 When I want to put the stream on air I mute and unmute soundcard 0 line input. Open input... amixer -c 0 sset Line,0 73%,73% Close input... amixer -c 0 sset Line,0 0%,0% I hope this helps Many thanks Geoff Barkman On Sat, Mar 30, 2013 at 12:03 AM, Bruce L.D.
