Try:

locate libhpi

On the most recent system I built (using CentOS 6), that command gives:

/usr/local/lib/libhpi.a
/usr/local/lib/libhpi.la
/usr/local/lib/libhpi.so
/usr/local/lib/libhpi.so.10
/usr/local/lib/libhpi.so.10.1.0

I'm probably running a later version of the driver, hence mine has libhpi.so.10 instead of libhpi.so.9.

The actual file is /usr/local/lib/libhpi.so.10.1.0, while usr/local/lib/libhpi.so.10 and /usr/local/lib/libhpi.so are symbolic links to it.

My guess is you have libhpi.so.[something] in /usr/lib or /usr/local/lib, and you need to create a symbolic link to it called libhpi.so.9 in the same directory.

With luck, that will fix it, and Rivendell will play in Peoria.

So I can't seem to load any of the rivendell bits, when I run from terminal
I get the message:

caed: error while loading shared libraries: libhpi.so.9: cannot open shared

I've googled around a bit not to much avail, and i tried using apt to
install libhpi however it is telling me that it is up to date. I quite
honestly am stuck and do not know how to resolve this or even truly what the
issue here is.
