Well, so what would be a proper behaviour? Give that folder 777 permission or allowing desktop user be part of rivendell group? I usually want desktop user not being in the rivendell group, otherwise he could delete /var/snd, so if he's in the rivendell group I'd change /var/snd to 755. Do you agree?
