Hello everyone,
I have a problemI would like to discuss with you. It's a matter of
sample rate.
My whole library is sampled at 44100Hz.
I have a "new" soundcard (E-MU 1010) which I plan to use for its ADAT
ins/outs. Really neat.
But here is the problem : although this soundcard (emu10k chipset) is
said to work at 44100 Hz, my JACK server won't start it at any other
sample rate than 48000 Hz.
ALSA driver problem ? Maybe I need an update ?
When i start JACK with -r44100, the server starts, but at 48000 Hz. The
error message says that there is a mismatch between the input clock and
the output clock when I use full duplex on the card (I'm sorry, I don't
have the exact error message here). If I launch JACK in playback only, I
have 44100 with no problems.
Anyway, that was just to explain why I need resampling.
As I think I read on this mailing-list, Rivendell does not live resample
the playing tracks anymore. The argument is calculation powerof the
Rivendell host. I don't think this is really relevant nowadays, as CPU
power is really the least of our worries when it's about resampling PCM
from 44100to 48000 Hz. But that's not the question, and if it is by
design, I won't change it. Although I'm pushing for a consideration of
this need in Rivendell.
I really don't want to resample my library files either. Idon't think
this is a good solution, as(who knows ?) maybe we'll need to switch to
another sample rate one day. Changing the sample rate of the files each
time is not acceptable. I know it's not gonna happen every week, though.
Do you think I could ask ALSA to live resample for me ? Maybe I don't
know how to look, but I couldn't find detailed explanations on how to
useALSA plugins to change rate.
Any help on this would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance !
Hoggins!
