Hi,
There was talk that the cddb lookup uses ports that are commonly blocked
I think someone found a way around it but you'll have to search the list.
As for mysql, usually when you install you are prompted for the mysql
root password.
You can reset it if you're having trouble:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html#resetting-permissions-unix
I'm not sure what you're chown'ing for MySQL but you shouldn't need to
touch that at all.
Changing the cart numbers is not recommended or possible within
Rivendell. It simply doesn't work that way. I work with a similar
system to you where I have TEMP where everything gets vetted before
going into the relevant categories.
The practicalities of this is you need a large TEMP number range and
very small category ranges (mostly for manual imports where you create
the carts first).
I never had much luck setting groups with overlapping cart numbers as
you get errors that won't let you save overlapping sets.

Hi All,
I have just done a new install on a Dell PC for the local Primary
School to get their School FM Station up and running.
I followed all the information that was on the Wiki for Post
Installation and all appeared to go well.
I am now going through the process of adding music to the PC.
I note however that I cannot get the "Apply FreeDB to Cart" to allow
me to tick the check box.
In my other machine it works well. I am connected to the internet, so
this should not be the problem.
Also I tried to access the Mysql using the PC login password, which
didn't work. Found the Wiki information on how to set the password to
the same as in rd.cong, but it would not work in terminal with the
chown command. The inquiry said I had root root, so I tried to change
it to user:group as the paper said.
And while I am at it, is there a way to change the cart number to a
new cart number.
I would like to have the kids put new music into the TEMP carts and
then have them changed later (once the music can be checked as
acceptable for the school) to MUSIC carts. I have found that I can
change the group, but the cart number stays the same as originally
entered. Would like to change them to the MUSIC portion?
Just had a thought, maybe I have to make the TEMP group, set to the
same number for carts as MUSIC?
Regards
Kevin
